We sacrifice a lot to be stealthy. Giving up slots to hide is not even worth it. We need our speed to get away and sneak up on unsuspecting prey. We cant do both. If people would stop trying to brick tank their scouts and actually damp themselves, we might have less QQ threads. @ OP: Great video, would definitely recommend it for any aspiring scout. I guess u dont fully understand. Mini scout cant even dampen enough to hide from focused scanner. Id have to give up speed and essential hp to do this. A completely stealthy scout is as good as dead as soon as ur spotted. Its worthless. Eyemakerwet wrote:as good as dead as soon as ur spotted Don't get spotted. Not everyone runs proto scanners, and odds are the few that do are running with the group on any given map. Don't blob up with everyone, flank, and the scout suit shines. 'Course, if that's too hard, maybe the scout suit isn't for you. I rarely go less than 1.0 with my militia scout setup (which evades tons of scanners, even though it only uses a militia damp).
Because nobody turns around ever right? Nobody has situational awareness in the slightest? If you main as a scout, you WILL get seen eventually. I guarantee it.
This is why the scout is given exceptional shield recharge and speed. It acts as a buffer, and is MEANT to be depleted if need be. We are supposed to be fast enough to get to cover, and then quickly let our shields recharge. It is great for dealing with one target in a group, and then running away before they can kill you (KILL THE LOGI FIRST )
A good scout can remain undetected when he needs to, but avoiding contact altogether makes for a pretty dang useless scout. Hit and run brah.
I DO think that scouts need greater Profile dampening passively though. What is the point of having a suit built for stealth if we have to waste slots just to remain undetected.
FOR EXAMPLE:
An ADV Scout with ADV dampening (Passive) will still be able to be detected by an ADV Scanner. Makes sense right? NOPE. I have to waste a low slot just to remain undetected from a scanner of the same meta level that my suit is supposed to beat!
IMHO, Scouts should NEVER have to use a Dampener (except for the OP Duvolle flux scanner. It's made to detect everything) Dampeners are for NON-SCOUT suits to try and lower their profile. We pay SP so that we DONT have to waste a low slot. |

When I run my minnie scout with dual kin kats I run at just over 9 M/S, yes I know that isn't very fast but it's an alt. Even when I'm running at that speed and trying to evade I still get hit just as easily as I do on my assault main. It seems that speed tanking is almost worthless now. It is worthless these days and I'm kind of glad I didn't go that route after all. I held firm on Tacnet skills; people mocked me. NOW WHAT BITCHES! But I do pity the minnies, who's primary line of defense was speed tanking.
Put that magic word in there for a reason. I can't wait till the scouts get buffed.
I can't find the OP, but there was a CPM who said the the scout buff would be speed/stealth oriented. No arguments there. They just need to make more changes than that :P |
